01

Start with your purpose.

Clarify how a property fits your broader goals, your time, and your comfort with uncertainty. A long-term rental and a renovation project can require very different plans.

02

Check the assumptions.

Ask how rental estimates, repair budgets, and ownership costs were developed. Review realistic expenses, including taxes, insurance, maintenance, management, and periods without rental income.

03

Understand the property.

Property condition can change the economics of a purchase. Discuss inspections and the need for qualified contractors or specialists to evaluate concerns.

04

Research local requirements.

Rental rules, licensing, association restrictions, and permitted uses can vary by location and property. Verify the requirements that apply with the relevant local authorities and professionals.

05

Build a team around the decision.

Jon can help with the real estate search and property analysis. Consult qualified lending, legal, and tax professionals for advice within their areas. Future rent, resale value, and investment returns are not guaranteed.
